School

The Downsview Park School Program, which began in 1996, offers unique curriculum-based workshops and special events to Toronto’s elementary and secondary school students. The program provides the opportunity for students to learn about the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Downsview Lands and share in documenting and interpreting its history.

The program offers a series of year-round workshops which are designed to meet many of the expectations outlined in the Ministry of Education Curriculum Guidelines. These workshops are free of charge and are offered both on site or as outreach programs.

Since the beginning of the program, several thousand students have benefited, participating in a variety of programs and projects. Programs offered have included:

  • Fine Arts Projects
  • Drama Programs
  • A Millennium Quilt project
  • Environmental Education Workshops
  • History/Geography/Science Workshops
  • Special Events (Earth Day, Heritage Week, Remembrance Day)
